Overlooked, No More

  • Alright, folks, let's talk about something you might not give a second thought to when you're carrying groceries home - jute! Yeah, that sturdy, rough fabric that holds your potatoes and onions, but did you know it's way more than just a bag or a heel material? Let's dive into the world of jute and discover its hidden talents. First off, what is jute? Well, it's a plant. Yup, not some fancy synthetic stuff, it's grown straight from the earth. Jute plants are mostly found in the Indian subcontinent, where the climate is warm and humid, has plenty of rainfall and possesses well-drained, loamy soils. They have been cultivated for more than 5000 years. Jute is amongst the longest natural fibres in the world-they can grow over 10 feet tall!

  • Did you know that Jute is known as the Golden Fibre of India? It is called that because of its vibrant colours and high monetary value. Majority of Jute is produced in the state of West Bengal. A mind-blowing fact- Back in the day, the Bengal province, (present day West Bengal and Bangladesh) sent over a billion jute sandbags to the trenches of World War I. Yep, you read that right - a billion! That's a whole lot of jute helping out in those trenches.

  • The interesting thing about growing jute is that fertilisers and pesticides are barely needed. Jute cultivation makes a positive impact, absorbing 15 tons of carbon dioxide per hectare and releasing 11 tons of oxygen! Yep, you heard that right! Jute is 100% biodegradable, recyclable and thus environment friendly. It actually enriches the soil where it is planted. Through jute swing tags, threads, and bag materials, we actively nurture a greener planet.

  • At RFG, we are using jute to craft heels. We believe it's the perfect blend of style and comfort, all while being eco-friendly. When you rock our heels, you're not just slaying the style game, you're also doing your bit for the planet. Walk the eco-friendly walk with poise. Our heels are highly resistant to stains and abrasions-because they are made of jute! So, what are you waiting for? Start your Jute Journey NOW!
